Rules for Visiting Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu Temple (Pura Luhur Uluwatu) is one of Bali’s most sacred temples and a famous place to enjoy the beautiful sunset and the traditional Kecak Fire Dance performance. To respect the sacred area and ensure a comfortable visit for everyone, all visitors are kindly asked to follow these rules:

1. Wear a Sarong and Sash

All visitors must wear a sarong and sash when entering the temple area. These are usually provided free of charge at the entrance.

2. Dress Respectfully

Visitors are expected to wear modest and respectful clothing, as this is a sacred place of worship.

3. Women During Menstruation

According to Balinese tradition, women who are menstruating are not allowed to enter the temple area.

4. Beware of Monkeys 🐒

Uluwatu is home to many monkeys that are known to be curious and sometimes mischievous. Please keep your belongings safe, such as:

• Glasses
• Mobile phones
• Hats
• Jewelry or accessories

5. Respect Sacred Areas

Some parts of the temple are restricted and reserved for worship only. Please follow the signs and instructions from temple staff.

6. Maintain Respectful Behavior

Visitors are expected to behave respectfully, avoid climbing temple structures, and help keep the area clean.

To enjoy the sunset and the Kecak Dance performance, it is recommended to arrive around 5:30 PM – 6:00 PM for the best experience.
